On This Episode…
This week on Radio Abundance, we sit down with four amazing women: leaders who are blazing the trail to Progressive Abundance in the United States Congress and in Arizona.
First, the team sits down with United States Congresswoman Laura Friedman, a Hollywood Film Producer turned Mayor turned California Legislator, now in the US House of Representatives, who has fought her whole life to build homes for people, not cars.
Then, we head to Arizona, where we hear from a trio of local lawmakers: Phoenix City Councilmember Anna Hernandez, Arizona State Representative Sarah Ligouri, and Arizona State Senator Analise Ortiz.
Together, these three musketeers tell us how they've worked arm-in-arm to rise above challenges and create neighborhoods where culture and communities can thrive.

YIMBY Democrats
for America
YIMBY Democrats for America is the next evolution of the movement formed as YIMBYs for Harris.
During the 2024 Presidential Campaign, we raised more than $150,000 for the Harris-Walz campaign with star-studded live-streamed fundraisers. More than 30,000 viewers tuned in to our debut to watch more than 70 YIMBY elected officials and pioneers like Maryland Governor Wes Moore, Colorado Governor Jared Polis, United States Senator from Hawaii Brian Schatz, United States Congressman from Florida Maxwell Frost, and United States Congressman from California Robert Garcia during a 3-hour celebration that The Wall Street Journal dubbed “YIMBYchella” and called “a breakthrough moment for the decade-old YIMBY movement.” The event also made news in The Washington Post, Politico, Axios, The Atlantic, Semafor, and The San Francisco Chronicle.
We followed this event with a series of phonebanks, during which we rallied Democrats to make tens of thousands of calls. We also featured all-new exclusive, in-depth, housing-focused interviews with Governor Polis, Senator Schatz, Congressman Garcia, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, United States Congresswoman from California Barbara Lee, and Pod Save America Host and former Obama speechwriter Jon Lovett. United States Senator from Massachusetts Elizabeth Warren made an appearance to proclaim YIMBYism as “Economics 101,” and Governor Moore told our assembled crowd that “this is your moment.” The interviews contained some breaking news, too, with Congressman Garcia sharing for the first time the timeline for the formation of the first-ever bipartisan Congressional Yes In My Back Yard (YIMBY) Caucus, which kicked off in November.
Since its inception a decade ago, the YIMBY movement has always been proudly bipartisan. But with so much at stake over the next 4 years for the future of American democracy and for the world, the time was right to found a movement and an organization that would promote YIMBY and abundance policies for housing, energy, and transportation while also standing up for progressive values, democracy, and liberalism.
We are proud to be the first-ever national organization to promote both YIMBY ideas and the Democratic party. Together, we’ll advance a movement both within our own party and across our nation to build new housing, protect our democracy, elect Democratic reformers, and create a culture of abundance, prosperity, and inclusivity from sea to shining sea.

Welcome to YIMBY Democrats for America.
